Bunge Deutschland GmbH Update on Mannheim Plant

A fire started in the preparation building at Bunge’s Mannheim crushing plant on Monday April 26, 2010 at 12:25 pm local time. The fire was extinguished at about 15:45 the same day.

Thanks to the local team’s rapid response, no injuries were reported. The damage was limited to the preparation building and machinery.

We informed our customers in the morning of April 27. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained. Independent experts will begin a damage assessment as soon as the authorities allow full access to the site.

The incident will result in disruption to product shipments, although soy meal customers are not impacted for the time being. Bunge Deutschland is doing its utmost to minimize disruption to all involved.

Bunge Deutschland GmbH in Mannheim processes rapeseeds. The annual seed crushing capacity is approximately 1.1 million tons. The plant had a processing capacity of 1.1-1.2 MMT of oilseeds and is expected to be out of service for an undetermined period of time.
